Monthly Ride to Opp Alabama - February 2010

It was a great day to ride, if you are into dressing up like a cross between a ninja warrior and an Eskimo.  A die-hard crowd of about twelve showed up Saturday morning to make our monthly scheduled ride.  After making sure all exposed skin was covered we saddled up and headed south down Hwy 331 for the big city of Opp, Alabama.  After a short stop in Brantley for a potty break and fuel we continued on and soon arrived at ”Doc’s Country Store” in Opp to enjoy lunch together.  With a menu that went from grilled cheese to cheeseburgers, everyone was able to find a favorite and ordered up.  One rider in particular decided to order pretty near one of everything on the menu and we watched in wonder as he made short work of it.  With everyone’s hunger satisfied from a really good meal our club president stood up and presented a short devotional.  It was an excellent parody of the protective equipment we use when we ride and the protection that God’s word provides for our daily lives.  After thanking Doc for a great lunch we headed outside to find the sun finally peaking out from behind the clouds.  Encouraged by the blue skies we headed back to Montgomery via a route through Elba and Troy.  Being February we made a stop at Sikes & Kohn’s Country Mall to take advantage of the big 20% off sale.  With the saddlebags loaded with bargains we made the last leg of the trip back to Montgomery where each rider headed for home and a warm shower.
